Demonstrating the benefits of Artificial Intelligence in government with the Rubik’s Cube

This is a Lego Mindstorm robot.
It’s just plain Lego, a Mindstorm kit, and some source software.
And it is going to solve this Rubik’s Cube faster than else in this building… I hope! We want to demonstrate that, you know government needs aren’t particularly unique we can use off-the-shelf software, we can use open source solutions we can adapt stuff
that already exists and we can do that to reduce costs and increase transparency. Now the average human in this building
takes about a minute to solve just one single face which I can’t do while I’m also talking and
demonstrating the robot at the same time. whereas this machine here… this solves it in a very different way to a human you can see all we can do is pull and just
rotate the bottom face but that’s what we’re also trying to show is that AI
isn’t necessarily about solving things the same way a human would, it’s about
finding a better way a more suitable way and again it doesn’t need to beat the er…. There we go… Well done robot! It doesn’t need to beat the best human it just needs to reliably outperform the average human
