How can the Rohingya resist populist violence? – Khin Zaw Win

My name is Khin Zaw Win, and my organisation is called Tampadipa Institute, based in Yangon, Myanmar. Well, I think sad to say the resistance cannot come from the helpless Rohingyas, they’re the lowest of the low, let’s call it now, and they have a small armed opposition, which is putting up armed resistance, but they are very poorly trained and very poorly armed, but the government has been using it as a very handy excuse, to come down hard on Rohingyas. The real resistance, will have to come from the general population, people who are really appalled by the kind of brutality that the military has used against the Rohingyas. So I think it’s like, telling the truth to the general population, and moving them to act It doesn’t have to be armed resistance, but it will have to be very strong political resistance against the violence exercised by the military.
