New Texas hemp and CBD law could snuff out marijuana prosecutions

>>POLICE TOOK A GIANT BLOCK DOUBLE WRAPPED IN PLASTIC AND TOOK IT HOME THINKING IT WAS MARIJUANA. AND IT PROBABLY IS BUT PROVING SO AT LEAST NOW IN TEXAS IS VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE. IT SURE LOOKS LIKE MARIJUANA. AND HERE AT THE HOUSTON FORENSIC SCIENCE CENTER LOOKING LIKE MARIJUANA USED TO BE ALMOST ENOUGH TO LEGALLY PROVE THAT IT WAS. SCIENTIST HAD TO LOOK IN A MICROSCOPE FOR TINY PLANT HARRIS CHARACTERISTIC OF MARIJUANA AND PERFORM A CRUDE BUT QUICK CHEMICAL TEST AND THAT WAS ENOUGH. NO ONE EXCEPT FOR MAYBE THE DRUG USER CARED HOW STRONG IT WAS. WEATHER WAS GOOD OR BAD, IT DIDN’T REALLY MATTER. >>CORRECT. >>NOT ANYMORE. >>WEEKS AGO, A BILL THAT STARTED IN THE TEXAS AGRICULTURE COMMUNITY BECAME LAW. AND IT WILL HAVE TEXAS BECOME ONE OF MANY STATES THAT HAVE HIP AS A LEGAL PRODUCT. IT IS STILL A CRIME TO POSSESS EVEN SMALL AMOUNTS OF MARIJUANA AND IT IS STILL PROSECUTED MOST COUNTIES. BUT MARIJUANA IT NOW HAS A POTENCY LIMIT. MARIJUANA AND HEMP ARE THE SAME PLANT. IF IT HAS BELOW ZERO THAT 3% THC THE CHEMICAL THAT MAKES YOU HIGH IT IS A LEGAL CROP. IF IT IS ABOVE THAT PERCENT THEN IT IS AN ILLEGAL DRUG. BUT THERE ISN’T AN INSTRUMENT IN THE SLAB OR VIRTUALLY ANY OTHER CRIME LAB IN TEXAS THE CONTEST FOR THAT. THEY TOLD THE LEGISLATURE COMPLYING WITH THE LAW CAN COST THEM $4 MILLION A YEAR AS HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS MORE IN THE CITY OF HOUSTON UNTIL THERE ENOUGH FEEPAYING TEXAS HEMP FARMERS THERE IS NO WAY TO PAY THAT EXTRA COST. >>THE INSTRUMENTATION IS A FEW HUNDRED DOLLARS. VALIDATION METHOD DEVELOPMENT IS GOING TO TAKE SOME MONTHS. AND OTHER HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS AS WELL. >>SCIENTIST ARE TRY TO COMPLY WITH THIS LAB SO THEY STOPPED TESTING IT FOR WEEK IN JUNE AND NOW THEY’RE ADDING A WARNING THAT THE TEST’S DON’T REPORT WITH THE NEW LAW SAYS IT NEEDS. >>A SUSPECT COULD SAY THAT TEMP. AND YOUR RESPONSE WOULD BE THAT IS AN ANSWER. IT MIGHT BE. MY TESTING DOESN’T DISTINGUISH UNDER THIS DEFINITION. >>BECAUSE OF THE CHANGE HARRIS COUNTY IS REVIEWING THE POLICY FOR ALL MARIJUANA CASES AND IN FORT WORTH THE DA DISMISSED HUNDREDS OF THEM. THEY ARE ON HOLD IN FORT BEND AND WALKER COUNTIES. AND IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY THE DA IS USING A PRIVATE LAB TO TEST.

  1. [email protected] Montgomery County. What a bunch of vindictive jerks. They couldn't let some guys catch a break, no they use the money they could be spending on fixing the damn roads in Porter on making sure none of these dudes get off without being punished and branded with a criminal history on their record. No no no Can't let somebody catch a break man no not in Montgomery County they're more concerned about the punishment they want to make sure everybody's kept down. Kind of funny since most of their cops are Crooks anyway. Yeah said too much. My name is Randy I live in Kentucky.

  2. Then those tyrants should also consider erasing prior criminal convictions relating to this new law.

  3. Reporter: Whether it was good weed or bad weed didn't really matter.

Dude high asf(look at his eyes reddish pinkish): didn't really matter correct.

  4. Since hemp has THC drug test are useless for jobs, CPS, law enforcement probation. Also legal to smoke a hemp joint and drive since Abbott says it can't get you high. But no evidence means no crime. No body no crime. No proof of marijuana no arrest.

  5. I think all States who will not legalize marijuana should have a rebellion like the did with the prohibitions because as the only thing that helped without call that's only thing that's going to help with weed Because they're not exactly being for the American people instead they're completely ignoring our votes So you know what enough is enough

  6. Have every person in that state that thinks it's OK smoking it what the heck is the police officers going to do arrest the entire population of the state They wouldn't even have enough police officers and jails to put people in

  7. Its a plant and we all should be allowed to use it or not its about FREEDOM OF CHOICE, THERE IS NO GOVERNMENT LIKE NO GOVERNMENT. TEXAS IS BEHIND ALL THE OTHER STATES LEGAL OR NOT I USE IT DAILY.

  8. Remind me not to come here catch me a ton of felonies between my closed loop blaster. N co2 critical set up they probably would think I was cooking meth nah just ganja but when your oil catches you a trumped up felony what the fuck a the diff'erence speaking of Trump that orange hombre is trying to change the schedule of thc cannabis to become legal federally , I'm down for that man has my vote 2020 he pulls that one through the congressional hoops n loops n passes it the people are tired of paying to keep non violent stoners in jail just watch this Great job Texas you probably had to call up Chuck Norris for this one man's dangerous beyond insanity https://youtu.be/tLfJbzL1tqA get the ranger on it asap dude might get dangerously cheesey after a dab

  9. howmany law makers, judges and officers are going to do hard time for false imprisonment when the gov finally admits weed is medicine…  irreparable damage done by the system whose suppose to be protecting citizens… instead people are kidnapped, abused, locked in cages, stolen from and lives ruined by the same people who will go home, get drunk and pat themselves on the back for a hard days "work" feeding the prison machine.

  11. Our government only responds to violence. Soo lets get the whites to riot for legal weed. We’ll be smoking by tomorrow !

  12. Yeah the DEA needs to get a life. They need to focus on hard stuff like heroin and myth. They waste our tax dollars for some trees and plants. That pisses me off

  13. So your telling me I gotta smoke that stepped on boo boo vs my weed that has 20% thc???? Texas is retarded they need to smoke some weed and chill tf out

  14. Let’s spend 4 million MORE dollars to prosecute cannabis cases instead of flipping the switch and making millions off of it.

By the way, Texas is already spending 3/4 of a BILLION dollars on cannabis prosecution and incarceration every single year.

  15. Ohh no!! Guys we have to stop this we can’t legalize weed!! How else are we gonna disproportionately put black and Hispanic in jail!?! Listen we know cigarettes are alcohol is a million times worse but since white Americans love it, don’t worry about that! Think of the children! The sky is falling, the sky is falling
