Breaking: PDP reportedly changes party name after signing MOU with 33 political parties The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reportedly announced a new name called Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) after it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with 33 other political parties. According to Vanguard, the announcement came after the signing of the MoU by the leaders of the parties on Monday, July 9. Their aim is to defeat the All Progressives Congress in 2019 and wrestle power from President Muhammadu Buhari. we had reported that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with the Reformed All Progressives Congress (R-APC), the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and 31 others. The agreement was signed at the Musa Yar’Adua centre in Abuja on Monday, July 9. Buba Galadima led members of the R-APC, the new faction which broke away from the ruling All progressives Congress (APC), to the event. The breakaway faction had accused the APC of trying to shut out the nPDP from the activities of the party. It also accused APC of betraying the hopes and aspirations of the millions of Nigerians that voted it into power. However, the APC has filed a four-count charge against members of the newly formed Reformed- APC. The national legal adviser of the APC, Babatunde Ogala, denounced the formation of the factional APC led by Buba Galadima. In a statement released over the weekend, Ogala said the action of members of the R-APC is grievous to law and can be linked to a coup.
