The lead author of opinions holding up Wisconsin Governor Walker’s collective bargaining bill will *not* be seeking re- election within the state Supreme Court. Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman made the announcement at about noon today. A spokesman for the conservative justice says Gableman is not running because he feels he accomplished everything on the court he set out to. With a five to two conservative majority. Gableman’s departure makes a shift unlikely. Even if Justice Gableman was replaced by a more moderate or progressive person, or more liberal person, it still would not change the balance of the court. If Gableman does finish his current term. the following Supreme Court race would be the first in the state without an incumbent since 2007.
